3 movies in 3 mornings

I guess this is what they mean by the leisurely holidays. These past 3 mornings I've been waking up at approximately 11 am and spending my time (lots of it to spare!) re-watching old movies. Mind the word re-watching. Yeah, I've watched them all before, but that doesn't mean I can't watch it all over again right? Hahahaha! Monday morning was Back To The Future 1, Tuesday was BTTF2, and this morning was BTTF3! Muahahahahaha! Man, I love those movies. Nothing better than watching a teenager transporting himself to and fro the past, present, and future just to 'mend' a little bit of his life here and there.

BTTF1 was all about Marty McFly (played brilliantly by a really young Michael J. Fox) going back to the year 1955 to change the course of his past, i.e. his parents' life is basically the main focus here. It's simply hilarious really, to watch Marty try to get George and Lorraine McFly to meet and 'naturally' fall in love!

BTTF2 saw Marty McFly and his girlfriend Jennifer being dragged reluctantly into the future (2015 to be exact) to 'correct' the mistakes of his son. Then after fixing everything, he returns to the present year of 1985 (the movie came out around that time, remember?) only to find that everything he's known has turned upsy-turvy into some sort of a nightmare... So then he has to travel back to the past - 1955 all over again - to track down the source of the change. Confusing? Yes, that's part of the fun.

BTTF3 was the odd one out of the entire franchise. The movie took Marty really really back into the past. Would you believe he ends up searching for Doc Brown in the Old West? Whoa, that's 1885, people! That's like the era of cowboys and Red Indians! And Doc Brown had to go and fall in love with some lady friend out there... Haha!

Yeah, I know I've more or less summarised all 3 movies, but the details I've left out, and it's these very details that make the movies really interesting. You guys should go and watch all 3 BTTFs if you can... And watch them, like, within days (hours) of each other if you really wanna understand what's going on. 'Cos if you 'forget' some details, it could turn out to be a really messy confusing web. Great movies, these 3.

And now that I've finished watching and reviewing these movies, I'm on the hunt for more movies! It's movie-mania time! Muahahahaha!

New kid on the block!

Yes! There's a new show on ntv7, and it's fabulous! It just ended like, 20 minutes ago, and already I'm blogging about it. Anyway, it's called 3lbs, and it's about this bunch of neurosurgeons in this really cool-looking hospital. In fact, the hospital looks better than most hotel lobbies these days. And has anyone realised how many medical-based dramas have popped up in the past 2 to 3 years? Grey's Anatomy, House, Scrubs, even the CSI franchise can be considered a medical-based drama, though most would beg to differ. But let's look at it from the medical aspect okay, people? And to think this trend all started with the veterans of old - ER and Chicago Hope. We've certainly come a long way. Back to 3lbs. Of course, we're introduced to Dr Hanson, the veteran genius surgeon who has his fair share of personal issues plus rather anti-social tendencies. Then you have Dr Seger, the new doctor on the block, who's supposed to be like the 'apprentice' to Dr Hanson. Then you have the usual cast lar... The rival doctor, the beautiful doctor, blah blah blah... Hey, it's only the pilot episode y'know? Can't expect me to know everything just yet. But the funny thing is, I surfed around some sites and they say that 3lbs only runs for like 8 episodes or something? Like, that it was cancelled? I dunno. It's a pity to cancel a good show, that's what I say.

It's nice to have friends... Right?

This holidays I've been hanging out a lot with my buddies. Okay, it's just been almost 2 weeks, and I've still got about 6 weeks of leisure to enjoy, but yeah, I think my holiday's been really fun so far.

Like, for example, yesterday I managed to have dinner with three friends. We had dinner at Singapore Chicken Rice. More specifically, I had their salad chicken rice (which is really good) and my usual Cola. Well, usual in the sense that I love Cola, but yesterday was the first time I ordered a Coke in SCR. Usually I go for the ice-lemon tea (which is really good). We managed to polish off the leftover meatballs, which if I must say so myself, was actually really good stuff. Then we chit-chatted until about what 8pm or 8.30pm, before realizing how bored we were and heading over to Sarawak Plaza. We did a lot of browsing, walk here walk there, until 9.30pm came and we decided to drop into Bing!, where (as always) I had my White Summer (which is really good). I think we must have stayed there until what - 11.30pm? Yeah, I remember, because that was the time the workers started closing the grills of the windows. I had a good chat with my two buddies. Sent them back to their home, then came home myself. Surprised myself by sleeping relatively early. As in, since the start of the hols, I've been going to sleep earliest at 3am, latest at 7am. But last night, I guess I was tired, 'cos I went to sleep at 1.30am.

I've really been enjoying myself this past week. Lemme just try to capture what it is I do everyday that makes me feel really happy:

1.00 - 1.30pm (varies according to tiredness): Wake up
2pm: Start of one of my favourite Mandarin series, Falling In Love
3pm: Singapore series, The Ties That Bind
4 - 6pm: I usually take a short nap during this time
6.30pm: Dinner, watch some TV - Manjalara, the TVB series on tv2
8pm: Online stuff - blogging, surfing, listening to music, plain surfing, chatting
5am: Average time I sleep everyday

What a lovely schedule! Oh yes, I am definitely enjoying my hols this time around!

Oooops, I did it again...

Guess what? Remember my ear? Well, it happened again. It got blocked up, and I had to see the ENT specialist again this afternoon. Sigh. Bye bye to money... But it was well worth it. My hearing is precious! I don't know why it keeps happening to me, this ear blocked business. Sigh. It's not even been half a year and this is the second time I've had to have my ears professionally cleaned out. I think I've really got to learn to leave my ears alone. Hopefully that'll save some moolah.

Return of the Superhero Flicks

Okay, I'll be the first to admit that I liked the movie even before its release. Why? Du-uu-uh. I think it's quite obvious. It's an obvious two words for me = Brandon Routh. Muahahahaha! Some of you having the rare opportunity (consider it a privilege, people!) to see my laptop might have seen his oh-so-perfect face plastered in the form of one of the most beautiful wallpapers ever, muahahahaha! And I know I'm a little outdated by writing this blog on Superman Returns, but I guess it doesn't really count anyway because I really only just recently managed to watch it. I bought the DVD about a week before my final exams, and yes, I watched it. Of course I watched it! No exam is gonna stop me from my daily entertainment fix! Anyway, I thought this movie was good in the sense that they managed to inject some sort of a more realistic depiction of Superman. I thought it was heartbreaking when Lex and his men were giving Superman a beating and Superman could only yell and scream in pain. Not your usual superhero portrayal, I'm sure you'll agree...

And Batman Begins was also a superb film! I thought - and many other critics and film reviewers too - this was the best Batman movie ever. I mean, the entire gothic-ness and that feeling of impending doom... Fantastic. Everyone thinks Batman is one super-happy superhero, but seriously, delve deep into his roots and you'll see that he's actually one rather sad man. Kinda like Superman, really. But then I've written about that topic already, I think it's in my Freshman blog. And Christian Bale was super-great! Muahahahaha!

Okay, I guess that's it from me about outdated superhero movies. It's time to stop looking back, time to stop looking forward... To Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer! Muahahahaha! Ooooooooooh... I can't wait! But before I fly to the cinema to book my seat, I think maybe I should try to get the DVD of the first movie first. Yes, that's right. I haven't watched it yet! No-oo-oo... What am I gonna do? I remember it was about 2 years ago, and I think I was so caught up with university stuff that I couldn't even go to the pay-RM1-to-watch show held as some sort of charity drive at my uni. Sigh. And then when my buddies actually went to watch, I was on vacation and thus, sad story commences. So this week I'll go on The Hunt For Fantastic Four. Sigh. But here's a picture from the upcoming movie. Looking forward to watching Ioan Gruffudd as Mr Fantastic! Isn't he just fantastic? LoL! I know - lousy pun.

And I know the following movie isn't really about superheroes, but won't you agree Jack Sparrow could almost be one? He's just plain hilarious! Man, I'll really be bursting my pockets if I plan to carry out all my movie-watching!

Okay, I'll spare you guys the torture of reading any further and just end my blog entry right here and now.

What's up?

I find it kinda strange. Logically, you would think that with all the assignments, exams, and overall busy-chaos schedule of university life, I'd be too busy to blog. But then you visit my blog and you see that I practically update with a new entry every day or so. Funny thing is, now that I'm temporarily free from all academic activities, I have some trouble blogging regularly. I find that somewhat ironic. Now, it's like i'm too busy being free to blog! How strange is that? It's like, suddenly I'm overwhelmed with just so many things to do!

Anyway, to skip the oh-so-near-philosophical tendencies that I tend to wax lyrical about, here's a general update on what's been going on since my release from prison on Monday (4 days ago):

Monday, 30th April. '2007
I slept really late the previous night, approximately 5am I think, just plain cramming last-minute stuff into my limited brain space. I'd set the alarm for 1pm (y'know, the logic being setting aside 8 hours for my sleep) but I ended up waking up at 10am! So then I rushed to uni and sat for my final paper. I thought that, like all the previous papers, I'd be able to complete the paper in 1 hour. But due to the conditions of the paper, I had to write real fast until the time was up. Then FREEDOM! I drove down to the Selection store at Tabuan Desa and did some grocery shopping. Bought spinach fettucine, butter, milk, chicken stock, button mushrooms, and bread. Dumped these all into the Jeep for safekeeping, then joined some of my coursemates for dinner at the KFC branch there. Then at approximately 7pm, I drove home and had a good rest. At about 10pm, got deposited off to my buddy triShie's house, where we cooked up a real good creamy mushroom soup and some pasta.

Tuesday, 1st May. '2007 and Wednesday, 2nd May. '2007
Frankly, I'm a little bit messed up in my head about what happened during this two days. That's usually what happens to me during holidays. I somehow lose track of time. I do, however, remember having lunch at the KFC branch at Rock Road with triShie, then in the evening another buddy of mine returned from East Timor. It's great to have you back, Vivian! A group of us had a really delicious welcome-back dinner, then it was a browse around town.

Thursday, 3rd May. '2007
Ah, this one I do remember. I woke up about 9am and joined triSh and Vivian for lunch at Singapore Chicken Rice. In the evening, they picked me up and it was dinner, then going to Star Cineplex to watch Spiderman III. It was real good! One of my favourite scenes was when Peter Parker became 'bad' and he was strutting and dancing down the streets! It was hilarious and so cute! I think James Franco stole the scene though, with that great grin of his. Go watch this movie, people! Recommended by ME! Muahahahaha!

Which brings us all the way to today, Friday! One of the funniest things that happened during the past week or so was eating pasta 5 days in a row! Here, let me just prove it to you guys:

(1) Friday, 27th April. '2007 - Had Pesto Cheese Sauce Fettucine at Peach Garden but didn't manage to snap any pictures.

(2) Saturday, 28th April. '2007 - My mom cooked some linguine to go with her pasta sauce:

(3) Sunday, 29th April. '2007 - This time my mom cooked some spinach fettucine to go with the sauce. Is your stomach growling yet?

(4) Monday, 30th April. '2007 - triShie and I cooked this up somewhere near midnight:

(5) Tuesday, 1st May. '2007 - Another special concoction of ours. It's spaghetti & meatballs!

And there you have it! 5 pasta dishes in 5 days! A personal best! Muahahahahahaha!

FREEDOM!

Muahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha! Like the brave-hearted Braveheart of Braveheart fame, let me scream aloud:
